Working on my Portfolio : A Bridal Photoshoot

Once the bridal season began to slow down, I decided it was time to work on my portfolio. I wanted to create some new looks to add, so I organized a small photoshoot.

My aim was to add a couple of ethnic brides to my website, since I have a so few displayed.  As a makeup artist, it’s important to showcase all different types of makeup styles since people are unique and have different skin tones and taste.

I went for one bold, bright lip color, and a softer look with cheek glow.  I find that “the glow” look is very popular and it works well on women who have normal to combination skin.  Glowing, healthy looking skin is important to most women, whether a bride or not!

The model featured here is one of the brides I had the pleasure of making up last September.

An Inspiring Session :: Working with Nicole Roberts Jones

Back in February, Nicole Roberts Jones from the Fierce Factor Lab contacted me to do her makeup for her photo session.  It was certainly a pleasure!

For starters, Nicole is quite an inspiration.  If you didn't know, Nicole Roberts Jones is an author and developer of the system called her Fierce Formula.  Nicole founded and developed her very first program at the young age of 23.  This program went on to become a national success!  Through all of this, Nicole was able to see her natural gift of helping people and turning their passions into profit!
Nicole has decades of experience working high end corporate executes helping to develop programs & services to meet the needs of all those they serve.  Thus, her Fierce Formula has become very well known.  What a fun experience working with such a talented and lovely woman.

I also had an opportunity to work with several members of her Fierce Factor team on a video shoot in early April.  That was also a great experience; they were all great to work with.

Fun with Makeup :: A Fashion Photo Shoot

When I have the opportunity to do anything different than bridal makeup, I seize the moment.  It gives me a chance to explore a different aspect of art; I have the opportunity to create different looks using bold and vibrant colors.

Although I love brides, most looks are with neutral colors.  It's fun to spice things up and get a little vibrant!  A few months ago, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Jasmin Sarita Photography and with a phenomenal wardrobe stylist.  Let me just say, it was an awesome experience!  I worked in different outdoor locations, under different lighting conditions, and with different models.

It was so fun getting to broaden my makeup horizon a bit! Check out these photos to see our fun creations!

African American Wedding: Holiday Glow

Happy February, everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying 2017 so far!

I wanted to talk a little bit about a recent wedding.  I had the pleasure of working with Porsha for her wedding day on New Years Day.  How special to celebrate getting married on such a big day!  I was particularly excited to work with her since I had not done a Holiday wedding a few years.  Porsha was easy going; she pretty much left the makeup look and color choices up to me (so fun!)  She wasn't the most knowledgeable about makeup, so she trusted me to give her the perfect look.
Turns out, Porsha was very happy with the colors and look I had selected for her on the day of her trial, and on the day of the event, everything was easy breezy!  When make up application goes smoothly, it takes away a certain amount of stress that brides just don't need on their big day!  Again, this is why makeup trials are so important.  It gives you the opportunity to try different techniques and really talk with your makeup artist and test different styles to get the look you desire.  When your wedding day comes, you will already know that you are going to love your look.  I'm so happy everything turned out so beautifully.  Congratulations again, Porsha!
